For the first time, the usually calm Jomari Yllana issued a strong statement about his breakup with Pops Fernandez. But instead of shedding light on the main reason why his almost four-year-old relationship with the Concert Queen fell apart, he confronted Pops' ex-husband, Martin Nievera.

Last February, Martin was all-praises about Joms, who directed his reunion concert, "Missing You", with Pops. But last March 11, a few days after Joms confirmed the split, Martin began singing a different tune. Rapper-TV host Francis Magalona died of leukemia Friday at the Medical City in Mandaluyong, Vic Sotto, his co-hosts at the GMA Network’s noontime show “Eat Bulaga” said. Francis was 44.

Magalona is the son of popular 1950s movie tandem Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran.

“I don’t want a media circus. I want privacy with my family,” Francis said in a phone interview with the Philippine Media, after reports of his illness broke out.

“What I’d rather talk about is how to we can solicit blood donations to replace the supply that I have consumed in the hospital,” said Magalona, the father of eight children.


Francis’ wife, Pia Arroyo-Magalona, said her husband started exhibiting symptoms in March this year. “It was very gradual, hindi siya biglaang lumabas [it didn't manifest right away].”

Manuel Chua, the Participante who’s been leading in almost all of the stunts, even had a misunderstanding with bitter rival Jommy Teotico. In an exclusive interview, ABS-CBN.com spoke with Manuel about what sparked the conflict during the Status: A Valentine’s Night with the Scholars concert last Friday, February 13.

The trouble began during one stunt when Manuel chose to save Participante Janna Dominguez. “Ang pinagbasehan ko talaga ng decision ko na si Janna ang maliligtas is siya naman talaga ‘yung mas maraming nakuhang strawberries (in the stunt). Nalaglag nga lang ‘yung isa. Inisip ni Jommy na strategy kong iligtas ‘yung babae. Sobra na ‘yung init ng competition. Tuwing sasalang kami sa stunt, ramdam mo na lahat kayo magkakalaban. Tumindi ‘yung labanan pero hindi ko naman inexpect na magkakaroon ng alliances at pagtutulungan ako. Pero tuwing bumabalik naman kami sa camp okay naman kami. Singer Pops Fernandez has confessed that she had her lips “plumped’ to make it look like the sexy lips of idol Angelina Jolie.
Fernandez was reacting to criticisms that the purported “lip job” was “overdone.”
